This morning, I went to the open air market, The French Nest, here in Fort Collins and had a great time! The sun was shining, the grass was green and the breeze was perfect! There was something for everyone. People of all ages were browsing through the merchandise, eating good food (you have to try the crepas!) and enjoying the local music. I'm looking forward to next month's date as I know I'll find something again for sure! Here are some pictures from today. Also, check out their website, The French Nest, for more info!
What is FoCo Design?
Hi, my name is Lisa and I love design! To me, design is everything - from the fancy handbag you carry to the simple design of your toothbrush...someone had to come up with the design right? Design is all around us and I for one live, breathe and eat design! I'm an interior designer and have worked on residential and commercial projects of all sizes. I started this blog, FoCo Designs, to discuss with YOU, my fellow design enthusiasts, where and how to incorporate all elements of design into your world! So check back often as I am always posting and looking for interesting and new designs elements!

The Denver Home Show
It was so much fun! Lots of information, free samples and great ideas! Below are a few pictures for a cool way to do the deck. They used rounds of wood as the floor.
And guess who I ran into...John Gidding from HGTV's Curb Appeal!

Oh Boy! Spring Is Around The Corner...
As Spring is just around the corner, many of us are thinking of the Spring Cleaning we must do to declutter our living spaces. With piles of old newspapers, magazines, clothes that don't fit, or even furniture that has seen better days, we need to purge and start new! Old newspapers and magazines can be taken to a recycling bin - many home improvement stores have large containers on their lots for paper, plastic and glass. (For local areas, look at the bottom of this post for recycling areas near you). For clothing and furniture, many second hand stores would be happy to take them off your hands. Places like Salvation Army and 1800-Got-Junk will even come and pick up furniture pieces if you call and make an appointment.
So to tackle that Spring Cleaning, here's a few hints to help get things started:
1. Make a list of the things you would like to organize and pick a date! Picking a date and sticking to that date makes it more real and do-able. Treat it like another other To-Do and mark it in your planner!
2. Pop in a CD you love and have that playing in the background and it'll make the sorting/cleaning go by faster. Dancing and having fun is the best way to declutter!
3. Remove the throw aways right away! Hanging onto throw aways or give aways just adds to the clutter. Get rid of them asap!
4. Go container shopping! Having a few boxes or containers to house your items is better than having them exposed. Baskets are genius because they fit into ANY decor and comes in many sizes and colors. Do not be afraid of adding a row of white, blue or pink baskets to hold small items in your living room. (This could be your POP of color for Spring)!
Distributing the same color in different items adds interest to this otherwise bland bookcase.

Pink Pink Pink
So the new color for the season is...drum roll please...PINK! I was surprised and scared at the same time remembering a colorist once told me my color was Pink. I tend to think of Pink as a girlie color, but men are warming up to the idea of Pink...as an accent color that is. I think it's a great introduction to Spring, so check out a few things I found that you could use in your house as that pop of color to welcome Spring!
And some of my favorite Pinks...
